Video Game Sound Design
CHARACTER DESIGN
IN THIS EXERCISE, I demonstrate my Sound design skills with creating Footsteps on different mediums. in this example, we have a Mech Suit soldier type character from the future waling on CONCRETE, GRASS, and WOOD PLANKS
GAME MENU SOUND DESIGN
FOR THIS ASSIGNMENT we were to create a sound design for a game menu , button clicks, transition sounds, and execution sounds. As this is geared to more of a Sci Fi Game, I decided to keep my choice of sounds to a more futuristic and spacey kind of feel to it
ELEMENTAL SPELLS
In this assignment we Designed and constructed sounds for Character spells of Each Element of EARTH, WIND, FIRE, WATER. and ICE. and to demonstrate our design capabilities in each element
SOUND DESIGN

PROJECT AND PORFOLIO III : AUDIO PRODUCTION
PROFESSOR: PAUL HARLYN
This month we Enjoyed another Amazing Project and Portfolio 3 assignment for AUDIO PRODUCTION! In this assignment
we had the satisfaction of working on any of our own songs and creation, WHILE focusing on the RECORDING, MIXING and MASTERING Aspects of the production. So I took it upon myself to perfect and finish one of the songs I have been working on for a while, but not officially released. Some of you may have heard the song performed live within the past few months! The song is called A LONELY ROAD, a Remix, and Cover of Avenged Sevenfold's "DEAR GOD". I wrote this song after Listening and Car Karaoking to AVENGED SEVENFOLD's Dear god on my way home FROM on Tour with a couple of fellow artists I went out with, and because it was the end of our tour, it Made me feel a Few different emotions! The Feeling of being on the road with the guys, and wondering what our next adventures are going to be, plus missing home, missing my wife, and kids. So I wrote this song to explain how I felt, and hoping that it would be an inspirational song for any artist out there that travels or tours for weeks, and reminds them of missing home!
The Arrangement is a MIDI track out so I was able to have access to the drum kit, guitars, bass, and any other instruments individually, I separated the Drum Track so I could work with each individual piece. Also incorporating leveling, panning, EQs, and filters, changed the BPM from verse to chorus 75bpm-85 bpm and back to 75bpm on the verses
changed a few of the instruments and added LIVE guitar and bass recordings
I added in the verse vocals gated and compressed the vocals, added autotune, EQ, a little reverb, and delays on the backups, and added harmonies,
ACOUSTIC ELECTRIC guitar and Electric BASS were played and performed by JOSH BERENDS of Adamsite and Elevated Sickness, where I mic'd the Amplifier for this specific recording so that I could achieve a more NATURAL sound to the song, rather than the entire track and instrumenting being all MIDI. I added in my choruses, copied and pasted them to each section, added my gates, compressors, EQs, autotune, reverb and delays. And Finally, this would be OFFICIALLY my first song that I have put through a proper Mastering process, through AVID Mastering, so you will hear a significant difference compared to my previous projects! TIME FOR ME TO GO BACK AND REMASTER ALL MY SONGS!
THIS SONG will officially be ADDED to the official Catalog and will be released officially as a single in AUGUST 2023

PROJECT AND PORTFOLIO FOR VIDEO GAME SOUND DESIGN
Project and Portfolio for sound design with M. Pinskey was Fun but challenging at the same time. We created sounds for environments, levers, switches, buttons, portal effects, projectile weapon sounds, and power-up sounds!
by either taking downloaded wav. files, or creating our sound effects from scratch using the ZOOM H5 recorder. It involves editing, topping and tailing, layering, and putting together these unique sound designs.
where we then uploaded to the Wwise Engine!!
In there we were also able to do some final touches with sound levels. and render them into what I Created below! This is my Show REEL, showing you examples of the sound effects that I created this MONTH at FULL SAIL UNIVERSITY. uploaded into the WWISE engine.
Looking back at this project, I ended up changing quite a few things, I would about 3 or 4 different times from the original product of my Track 2 composition. Whether it was the drum track, or changing the instruments in the Harmony, Melody, or bass line. Compared to my attempt at this project back in August, I think I was able to put a lot more focus and attention on what I was doing. I think the hardest part of all this was finding the right feeling and sound I was trying to create. Honestly, it doesn’t have much significance regarding this track's meaning. I think I was going more for a basic concept and feeling, rather than meaning.
Of course, starting with my drum track at 4/4 time 160 BPM. Creating a very basic Kick Snare and hi-hat beat, there wasn’t much to it. I know nothing about drums or drumming except for the fact that it is created to help keep the tempo and beat of the song or composition.
All three hi-hat, snare and kick I started out using a regular drum kit plugin. Then separated the 3 instruments and changed them each into Electric Drum Synths. Giving it a smooth, and subtle beat line that doesn’t overwhelm the song. Gave the Kicks an Electronic Heavy kick, and for the hi-hats, I used a Gritty Hi Hat instrument. As for the snare, I originally used an electric snare with some stereo delay and chroma verb bused in. But for the final project, I decided to change that into HUMAN CLAP with chroma verb and stereo delay. For the Bass line, I used the ESP and for the base layer, I used an ESM plugin to create my bass instrument, taken from the original harmony track bass note and matched to the tempo of my kick drum.
I used and kept the Key of Cm for the Harmony, and melody and changed the Chord listing from the original chords that I used for track 2 to; Cm Ab Bb G Cm Ab F and G, as for the 2nd 16 bars, I switched up the progression a little bit and used the Relative Em D Cm and Bb and then ending it with Cm Ab F and G chords. I inverted a few of the chords to give it a smoother sound and transition from chord to chord. I took the top note of each chord and used that as my guideline for my melody giving it a little “spunk” and somewhat of a rhythmic melody. I used Studio Horns for the melody track and layered it with an ESP synthesizer
I used my voice for the original audio and kept the original lyrics I used in track 2, which surprisingly, I did not expect to match harmonically with the changed chords and melody, but I felt that it sounded quite pleasant and not so dissonant, so, therefore, I kept it and didn’t have to change it at all, as for my vocal Sample, I recorded a few vocal clips to add to my library of sounds to use for sampling, utilizing a recording of me singing some “oohs and Aaah”
However, I think I could use a little work on my vocal skills, but I didn’t think it came out too horrible, especially for my first-time sampling.
Mixing was probably the trickiest for me as everything was initially modulating and I had to figure out how to compress each instrument track to where it was nice and even. I put compression on all the drum tracks (kick, snare, Hi Hat) the melody, melody layer, and vocals. Stereo delay on Snares, bass, bass layer, and vocals, Chroma verb on Snares and Vocals, and of course a little pitch correction on Vocals because I can’t sing to save my life. I bused in a little pitch shift and Noise gate on my vocals. Leveled everything out as much as I could, lowering my instrument layers significantly so that I had very minimal clipping
And Viola! I present to you my final track for this month's project and portfolio assignment!
I hope I didn’t do too horribly and I hope you enjoy it!
RPR FOLEY CARTOON (AUDIO)
This assignment was probably One of my favorites, exploring the basics of Audio production with Foley Cartoons, creating sound effects, with common household items, and creating voiceover, dialogue, music and mixing and mastering each sound and level to include panning. I used a list of items to create this ranging from a party horn, silverware, my toms from my drum set, a brush, drumsticks, and a sample of revalee!
Given a silent black and white cartoon, I started Creating Sounds, compressing, and equalizing each sound to the preffered levels and by placing each sound in its respective section of the video, I came up with and created the Audio for this Foley Cartoon!
REMIX FROM MIDI ASSIGNMENT

In this Assignement, we learned the importanance and basic steps and requirements for REMIXING from a MIDI sample.
we initially chose, searched and downloaded a song from a FREE MIDI download website. I chose and used the SWEET DREAMS by Eurythmics MIDI from www.FREEMIDI.org
When Uploaded, and rendered on Logic Pro, we went through, changed all the instrument sounds, added instrument sounds, took away instrument sounds, changed tempo by slowing it to 51 BPM in thebeginning and sped up to 120 bpm after the intro
After changing, adding, and taking away instrument sounds for the the track, I went ahead and added various effects to those instrument tracks or gave it some equalization, and utilized dynamic compressors.
